Soldano Avenger 100 factory modded
Bet you didn't think a Soldano could do a clean tone like this. |
Note that high gain also equals clarity here. |
Certainly not played as well as the original, but you can hear the tone drip from the notes. |
Soldano may not be the King of Drop Tuning but X still marks the spot. |
Here are some of the amp profiles in a mix. Yep, I forgot what is what but all the guitars are 100% this profile pack. |
Soldano has a heritage of making high gain amps in the USA. The top of the line is the iconic Super Lead Overdrive, but their other offerings are great in their own right. Meet the Soldano Avenger.
One Channel, no fx loop, made to rock. This particular amp was modded from the factory - I called and talked to Mike Soldano, they had a record of it’s modification. It has a foot switchable second master volume - so it could be set up for a lead channel. Very cool and versatile. No fx loop gives you a purer sound, but at the expense of… effects. Thanks goodness this is a Kemper profile where we can have the tone of the Soldano but add fx behind and in front of the amp!
These profiles make a break from my typical format - I am not providing direct profiles. These profiles sound fine with the cab off to my ears, and not making three of each setting like I usually do freed me up to try something new.
The first 12 profiles are of the Avenger and a vintage SM57 with various settings. High gain, low gain, scooped mids, extra mids, etc. There’s a wide variety of tones here. But I thought “what else could I include?”
Enter custom profile settings. I dialed in fx for different uses and tweaked the profiles. First 12 are right off the amp - archival, as I like to think - a snapshot of the amp I own. Here’s what the other profiles are / can do:
13 Is enhanced for tight rhythm playing
14 for soloing
15 for low gain
16 a starting point for mixes (live and recording)
17 mix ‘ready’ also for leads
18 set up with morph - from rhythm to lead
19 set up with morph - from clean to dirty rhythm
